Non Pop-Specific is a pretty good album in its own right. It often makes me wonder what could have been had the band stayed together (or should they get together again) and achieved some notoreity. "Don't Fall Apart" (which was recorded two years before the rest of the album) sounds alot like "Capitalism" by the band which preceded Pop Poppins, October 8th. That's a good thing, the song is one of the strongest on this album. "Find Your Savior" (don't worry, there's little to no religious reference there) goes on a minute too long but is an interesting piece of music and lyrics. "Sound Escape" doesn't really go anywhere but is good listening just the same. "Blind Love" has a great combination of words and urgency in the chorus, while "I Don't Mind" is vintage Pop Poppins pop. There are a couple of songs in the last few which could have been left off to the benefit of the album... but track 12, "Weavin'" is a sweet and simple and quirky little love song featuring the line "you are the fabric of my appreciation, my bed of roses, I want to play in". The liner notes list the '93 album and its number--maybe it can still be obtained from Carpe Diem records? - Kevin White
